Evoke Emotions

This photo was taken in Newport, Oregon. Two fishermen were taking a break and I saw them in the shadows with this wonderful backdrop of the harbor behind them. With a little editing, I converted the image to B&W because it captures the feeling and makes it timeless without any colorful distractions.

This photo was changed to look more like a painting. I often see images with a certain "texture" or style before I even take the shot. There are so many photos of boats in harbors, but this one was telling me "oil painting....watercolor....change me!" So I did - I am so thankful graphics software has come a LONG way since it

When I saw these subjects in Oregon City, Oregon, I saw "B&W pencil sketch and charcoal" and somehow managed to capture this shot from a moving boat. The photo was transformed into other mediums and changed to B&W to cause the composition to evoke age and emotion.

Old Boat and Building

The intensity of the color of the Iris alone evokes emotion in me. A bonus with the ant marching over the rim.

I saw this barn one foggy morning in Oregon City. The sun was just starting to burn off the layer of ground clouds. The contrast of light was visible for only a few minutes. Interestingly, I just drove past this barn in another direction and it didn

Oregon City Backroads

This is my current favorite shot in my portfolio. I was recently blessed with a day of intermittent sunshine. This was between rain showers which caused the fall of colors everywhere.

Thanksgiving for Light

These toys were left on the beach at sunset as everyone headed down to the water to get as close to the sun as possible. The sun was just beginning to set and naturally intensified the colors of the buckets. Pacific City, Oregon is a real place to relax and "let it go".

Having a thirst-quenching drink on the patio of the Pelican Pub in Pacific City, Oregon is a great way to "let it go".

Life on the Beach

This was a wonderful shot that happened quite by accident. This gentleman was sitting at a high school picnic reunion for his son. Ironically, he had just as much energy as the folks that were celebrating the reunion! I love the way the photo looked better after I changed it into a charcoal illustration.

Mr. Blake

While I was waiting for someone to arrive at the airport, I stopped by a local field to shoot some of the wild flowers. I suddenly got an idea to add my shoes because the colors matched so well. What spontaneous fun! This photo was used on the cover of a book I recently published, "The Silliest Things That Make Your Wife Happy".

Poppies n Pinkies

This was a glorious fall day near Mt. Hood, Oregon at Lost Lake. A lovely place just west of the mountain. The lighting was perfect!
